Laboratory investigations

The broad range of laboratory investigations available at LenMedCenter includes the following:

  • gastric panel: gastrin, pepsinogen, antibodies to H. pylori,
  • gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase,
  • elastase in feces (the exocrine function of the pancrease),
  • antibodies to the parietal cells of the stomach (autoimmune gastritis),
  • antibodies to mitochondria (primary biliary cirrhosis),
  • IgM and total antibodies to lamblia,
  • antibodies to four helminths (echinococcus, toxocara, trichinella, and Opisthorchis),
  • cancer markers: CA 19-9, CEA, CA 72-4, a-fetoprotein, b2-microglobulin, etc,
  • anemia markers: ferritin, vitamin B12, total blood serum iron, and transferrin saturation,
  • tests for rubella, toxoplasmosis, cytomegalovirus, herpes, mononucleosis, Epstein-Barr virus,
  • C-reactive protein quantitation,
  • intolerance of food products, and
  • IgE to ascaris and other allergens.
