Monitored dialysis of the colon

What is monitored dialysis of the colon?
Monitored dialysis of the colon (MDC) is a popular and proved method making it possible to rapidly eliminate wastes and toxins accumulated in the body. This is a universal approach to treatment of different internal diseases. It is easy to use, is well tolerated (even in resuscitation), has no side effects, and is highly efficient. The procedure of monitored dialysis of the colon is absolutely physiological. Practice proves that in the hands of an expert this technique produces excellent results, which is confirmed by numerous scientific publications. In Saint-Petersburg only, two MD and 10 Candidate dissertations on MDC have been defended over a few recent years. It should be minded that MDC is a serious technique requiring the skills of professional gastroenterologists, endoscopists, and proctologists. Only on that condition, it is possible to judge about its benefits and safety.

What is monitored dialysis of the colon needed for?
MDC is needed to clear the body of wastes and toxins, radionuclides, and heavy metals, to normalize intestinal microflora, motility, and emptying function, improve vitamin production and microelement absorption, and normalize water-electrolyte balance and protein, carbohydrate, and lipid metabolism.

In what cases is monitored dialysis of the colon used?
MDC is used to restore normal and regular functioning of the colon and, also, in dysbiosis of different origins, food poisonings and other intoxications, irritated bowel syndrome associated with constipations and diarrheas, abstinence syndrome, hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, chronic renal failure, allergoses, dermatoses, neurodermatoses, renal and urethral diseases, and bronchial asthma

Why colon functioning may become impaired and what may it result in?
The normal functioning of the colon may become impaired because of inadequate nutrition, sedentary life stile, disorders in intestinal motility, and chronic diseases. The colon is the end site of food digestion where its products are processed by microorganisms and enzymes. If colon functioning is impaired, decomposition products accumulate. They are absorbed through intestinal mucosa along with useful substances. This results in self-poisoning of the organisms, which promotes allergies, obesity, chronic fatigue, accelerated senescence, frequent common cold, skin diseases, hypertension, bronchial asthma, headaches, arthritis, constipations, hemorrhoids, prostatitis and other diseases.

Why MDC is performed in internal diseases?
Different internal diseases (cirrhosis, hepatitis, pyelonephritis, acute and chronic renal failure, different respiratory diseases including asthma, etc.) may promote abnormalities of the intestinal microflora leading to dysbiosis. The lungs, kidneys, and liver are the organs through which toxins are excreted. When they function improperly, the whole burden of cleansing the body is loaded onto the bowel. That is why its proper functioning is so important, otherwise the body is just not cleared of toxins. MDC helps to restore the normal functioning of the bowel.

What kind of diagnostics has to be passed before monitored dialysis of the colon may be performed?
The rectum must be examined. To make use of MDC, it is necessary to be sure that there are no contraindications against this unique technique.

What are the contraindications against monitored dialysis of the colon?
The contraindications include the following:
- acute infections with fever, - febrile conditions, - acute circulatory failure, - acute myocardial infarction, - any acute intestinal disease, - Crohn disease, - nonspecific ulcerative colitis, - bowel diseases, - intestinal tuberculosis, - exacerbated chronic hemorrhoid, - chronic fissures of the colon, - abdominal infiltrates, - necrotic rectal tumors, - absolute sphincter failure, - rectal prolapse, - mental diseases, and - menses (especially the first two days).
Monitored dialysis of the colon is incompatible with the use of antibiotics, hormones and chemotherapy. It is must not performed after colon surgery resulting in deformation of the colon.

How is monitored dialysis of the colon carried out?
The procedure is carried put with a special apparatus. In the course of MDC, the bowel is gently filled with treated water containing sorbents. The apparatus controls the rate of inflow and temperature (36-37°C). At the same time, the apparatus receives wastes, toxins, and fecal masses. The patient does not feel any unpleasant smell because a system of tubes with tips prevents any contact of the contents of the bowel with the air. The process of fluid inflow and waste outflow is automated and strictly controlled to maintain the normal intraintestinal pressure. Any discomfort or damage to the bowel are excluded, because only highly qualified specialists are employed at LENMEDCENTER. One session of MDC normally takes 15-20 minutes. Usually, a course of 3 to 10 sessions is required.

What sorbents are used at LENMEDCENTER for MDC?
The most widely used sorbent is Lingosorb, one of the most promising enterosorbents. It is produced from hydrolyzed lignin and is an analogue of the well-known sorbent Polyphepan. However, Lingosorb has a greater sorption capacity, is less irritative for the intestinal mucosa, and is less inhibitory for peristaltics. An exceptionally important feature of Lingosorb is its ability to form stable suspensions in liquids, which makes it possible to absorb toxins, wastes, and pathogenic microflora without causing dysbiosis or doing any other harm to the patient.

What is the difference between monitored dialysis of the colon and hydrotherapy of the colon?
Hydrotherapy of the coon is monitored dialysis of the bowel followed by administration of a solution saturated with ozone or herbal tincture. Such administration method allows the substances to be absorbed directly through the bowel mucosa bypassing the enzymes of the stomach and duodenum. Due to this, the substances entering the circulation by diffusion produce potent systemic effects. In some cases, such treatment is superior to using costly imported drugs.

At LENMEDCENTER, monitored dialysis of the colon is performed using the last model of the Russian apparatus AMOK-2. Each patient is provided with individual tip connected to tube system and with disposable napkins and underwear. Monitored dialysis performed at LENMEDCENTER will help to painlessly and effectively solve problems that you probably tried to solve for years!
